About:
Lathouris Law PLLC serves the legal needs of multiple tribes by providing legal research and drafting regarding federal Indian and tribal law issues, including opinions, motions, briefs, reports, resolutions, and ordinances. It has experience representing tribal interests in federal consultation, tribal-state gaming compact negotiations, and federal and tribal court litigation. Notably, Lathouris Law PLLC helps tribal nations develop tribal code and policy that reflects the history, traditions, customs, culture, and values of the respective tribal nation.
Lathouris Law PLLC is currently contracted as a special counsel attorney for the Augustine Band of Cahuilla Indians; the code and policy development attorney and the Indian Child Welfare Act (“ICWA”) attorney for the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe (and was also formerly its gaming attorney); and as the public defender and ICWA attorney for the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe. Beyond its legal practice, Lathouris Law PLLC is currently contracted to provide adjunct instructor training for Falmouth Institute and, through Falmouth Institute, provides consulting services on governing documents to the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe.
In providing legal services to some tribal governmental clients, Lathouris Law PLLC has contracted with The Law Offices of Rapport & Marston: An Association of Sole Practitioners.
Values:
Lathouris Law PLLC is 100% Native-owned and believes that protecting tribal sovereignty is not just a job but the right thing to do for generations to come. Lathouris Law PLLC is not a big law firm. It does not have a fancy office or attorneys you will never meet. It also does not represent non-Indian interests against tribal interests. This means that Lathouris Law PLLC is a boutique law practice dedicated to providing a direct, personalized, and cost-competitive service to tribal governments. At Lathouris Law PLLC, protecting tribal sovereignty is more important than profits.
